Diversity of Thought: Is TV Too Woke?
Edinburgh TV Festival 2021
•
39m
Last year’s Edinburgh was described by some in the industry as ‘the most woke festival ever’ and Diversity of Thought is THE hot topic at Channels at the moment -a subject that people will discuss endlessly in private but any public discussion around it feels stifled and self-censored for fear of offending.
This panel will discuss the tough and urgent questions on this subject with a specially commissioned survey to reveal industry backgrounds and thoughts vs what our viewing public think.
Questions such as: Are we too politically similar in TV? Is there space for difference in values and views? Are we too scared to have open conversations around hot topics? Are we obsessed with subjects that are irrelevant to our viewing audience? Who are we making TV for? Have we ignored our audience?
