TV is dead, long live the streamers and social media platforms - it’s a mantra that’s repeated time and again when talking about 16-34-year-old content consumers. But, with ITV2’s Love Island making headlines as it banked £12m in revenues before the show went out, this session examines if this image of the youth market is actually accurate. Are broadcasters, as we continue to call them, holding their own in the face of competition from YouTube and TikTok and how are all these platforms carving out their own niche when it comes to attracting this all-important demographic?
In this quickfire Q&A session, ITV2’s Paul Mortimer and BBC3 boss Fiona Campbell will share their strategies for connecting with young adults; what’s working and what isn’t and crucially, what they’re looking for next.
In this must-attend session for producers and distributors, TikTok’s General Manager Rich Waterworth will reveal how to capitalise on your back catalogue by using the platform to engage a new generation of fans, as well as sharing some top marketing tips for your existing slate.
Finally, we’ll hear from multiplatform producer Wall of Entertainment, creators of the hit YouTube series, Does the Shoe Fit, who will compare their experiences working with traditional channels versus platforms. They’ll also outline how best to get brands onboard as well as how to find and grow new and diverse talent.
