Meet the Controller: Channel 4
Edinburgh TV Festival 2020

It’s been a seismic year for the world, and closer to home for Channel 4. As the broadcaster set
up shop in a concerted way outside of London and made a fuller commitment to the nations
and regions, it also had to contend with the impact of advertiser revenues falling as a crisis
took grip. Director of programmes Ian Katz talks about how the commercially-funded PSB has
navigated the challenges 2020 has presented and what has hit home on-screen. He will be
joined by deputy director of programmes and head of popular factual, Kelly Webb-Lamb, as
the Channel 4 content supremos look ahead, detail what’s working, what’s next, and what’s
needed.
